BurnHelp is a tele-triage app that connects referring physicians to their affiliated Burn Center so they may consult with experts to determine the best course of treatment. Burn wounds can be assessed within seconds, saving patients and families from unnecessary travel expenses while minimizing the risk of over- or under-triage—all in a HIPAA-compliant manner.
HOW IT WORKS
Patient arrives to local ER.
Upon a patient’s arrival to the emergency department, emergency physicians assess the burn injury and determine an expert opinion is required.
Physicians document the injury through the app.
Photos and demographic information are collected easily and securely through the app.
Burn Center is notified.
The on-call burn physician reviews patient demographics and photos securely from the app.
BurnHelp connects the physicians.
Burn surgeon and referring physician are connected through the app based on the hospital’s workflow.
Transfer decision is made securely.
Once disposition is determined, patient information is cleared from the application and HIPAA compliance is maintained.

Sending and receiving physicians are able to use the app to calculate nutrition and resuscitation values for patients. Calculations may be customized by preferred/applicable model.
